My Quick and Easy Everyday Hairstyle
Hey, y’all! I’ve had so many of you ask about my go-to, everyday hairstyle—the one I turn to when I want something quick, simple, and polished without spending hours in front of the mirror. I love experimenting with different looks, but this one is definitely the easiest, and it works beautifully with my naturally thick, curly hair.
Working With My Hair Type
Let me start by saying that my hair has a mind of its own. It’s thick, naturally curly, and tends to be on the dry side. Because of that, I only wash it twice a week. Washing less frequently helps prevent dryness, and it saves me from the never-ending cycle of blow-drying and straightening that curly girls know all too well.
On wash days, I’ll shampoo, condition, then either blow-dry or let my hair air dry overnight. After that, I’ll usually run a straightener through it to smooth out the frizz. Once that’s done, the next few days are easy—just small touch-ups here and there.
If your hair is more on the oily side, a good dry shampoo will be your best friend. In fact, I use dry shampoo even with my dry hair because it not only keeps my roots fresh but also adds a little extra volume on day two or three.
Why I Still Love Hair Rollers
Now, I know what you’re thinking: hair rollers? Aren’t those a little old school? Maybe—but let me tell you, they’re one of my favorite tricks. The main reason is that I don’t like applying direct heat to my hair every single day. Rollers give me the volume and shape I want without frying my strands.
Here’s what I do:
- I spray a little dry shampoo into my roots and brush through my hair.
- I take a two to three-inch section from the crown of my head, brush it smooth, then roll it up starting from the ends.
- I secure it at the crown with a clip.
I repeat this process through the middle section of my hair (usually about four jumbo rollers), then add two more on each side, and finish with whatever hair is left in the back. Even with all my thick hair, the whole process takes me about seven minutes—super manageable, even on busy mornings.
Setting and Styling
Once the rollers are in, I give my hair a light mist of hairspray. Nothing fancy—just an inexpensive option like Rave does the trick. Then I let the rollers sit for about ten to fifteen minutes, usually while I’m doing my makeup.
When it’s time to take them out, I remove each roller carefully, letting the hair fall straight down in the direction it was rolled. This creates a soft, natural wave instead of a tight curl. The end result is a relaxed, voluminous look that feels effortless but polished.
To finish, I always run a small amount of oil through the ends of my hair to keep them smooth and healthy-looking. Then I set everything with a flexible hairspray so the waves hold but still move naturally.
A Tool That Lasts
I have to give a little shout-out to my BaByliss rollers. They were an investment at first, but I’ve had mine for nearly fifteen years, and they’re still going strong. Honestly, it shocks me how well they’ve held up! If you’re looking to try rollers but don’t want to spend as much, there are plenty of similar options out there at lower prices.
Making Mornings Smoother
What I love most about this hairstyle is how much time it saves me. I can prep my hair in just a few minutes, go about my morning routine while the rollers do their work, and end up with soft, bouncy waves that last all day. It’s a simple rhythm that helps me feel put together, even on busy mornings when life is moving fast.
I hope some of these tips make your daily routine a little easier and give you a fresh way to style your hair without spending hours in the bathroom.
